Terese

Terese is a Scandinavian and Basque form of Teresa, a name whose exact origin remains debated but is most commonly traced to the Greek word therízein, meaning to harvest, or alternatively to the Greek island of Therasia. The name was popularized across Europe largely through the influence of Saint Teresa of Ávila, the sixteenth-century Spanish mystic and reformer. Terese is used in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Basque-speaking communities, while the closely related Lithuanian form is Teresė. Other cognates include Teresa, Theresa, Therese, and Térèse.
