Valentin

Valentin derives from the Latin name Valentinus, itself based on the root valens, meaning strong or healthy. It was borne by several early Christian saints, most famously the third-century martyr whose feast day on February 14 became associated with romantic love throughout much of the Western world. The name spread widely across Europe through veneration of these saints and remains common in French, German, Romanian, Slavic, and Scandinavian traditions. Closely related forms include Valentine, Valentino, Valentijn, and Valentín.
