Walt

Walt is an English short form of Walter, which derives from the Old High German name Waldhar, composed of the elements wald, meaning rule or power, and hari, meaning army. The name gained widespread modern recognition largely through Walt Disney, the American animator and entertainment pioneer whose first name became iconic in popular culture. Walter and its continental equivalents Walther and Gautier are closely related forms found across Germanic and Romance languages.
