Walt

Walt is an English short form of Walter, which derives from the Old High German name Waldhar, composed of the elements wald, meaning rule or power, and heri, meaning army. The name gained widespread modern recognition largely through Walt Disney, the American animator and entertainment pioneer, and Walt Whitman, the celebrated nineteenth-century American poet. Waldo and Walther are related forms found in other traditions.
