Yiannis

Yiannis is a Modern Greek form of Ioannes, itself derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning "Yahweh is gracious." The name entered Greek through the New Testament and became enormously popular across the Christian world largely due to John the Baptist and John the Apostle. Yiannis remains one of the most common male names in Greece today. Closely related forms include Ioannis, the more formal Greek variant, as well as the widespread European cognates John, Juan, Giovanni, Jean, Jan, and Ivan.
