Zachariah

Zachariah is an English form of the Hebrew name Zechariah, composed of the elements zakar, meaning to remember, and yah, a shortened form of the divine name YHWH, giving the overall sense of God has remembered. The name is borne in the Old Testament by numerous figures, most notably the prophet Zechariah and the father of John the Baptist, whose story is told in the Gospel of Luke.
