Adelbert

Adelbert is a Germanic given name composed of the elements adal, meaning noble, and beraht, meaning bright or famous, yielding the overall sense of nobly bright or illustrious through nobility. It is a variant form of the more widely known Adalbert, which was borne by several medieval saints, most notably Saint Adalbert of Prague, the tenth-century bishop and martyr who became patron saint of Bohemia and Poland. The name enjoyed periodic use in German and Dutch-speaking regions and was occasionally adopted in English-speaking contexts during the nineteenth century. Albert and Albrecht are related names sharing the same Germanic roots.
