Elbert

Elbert is a Dutch and Low German form of the Old High German name Adalbert, composed of the elements adal, meaning noble, and beraht, meaning bright or famous. The name belongs to the same Germanic family as Albert and Adalbert, names that were widely used across medieval Europe and carried into modern times through various regional forms. Elbert saw use in the English-speaking world, particularly in the United States during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, partly under the influence of Dutch settlement traditions.
