Albertus

Albertus is the Latinized form of the Germanic name Albert, itself derived from the elements adal, meaning noble, and beraht, meaning bright or famous. The Latinized form was widely used in scholarly and ecclesiastical contexts throughout medieval and early modern Europe. Its most celebrated bearer is the thirteenth-century theologian and philosopher Albertus Magnus, whose immense learning earned him the title Doctor Universalis.
