Alisya is a modern English variant of Alice, which traces back through Old French Aalis to the Old High German name Adalheidis, composed of the elements adal, meaning noble, and heid, meaning kind or type. The name Alice gained widespread use in medieval Europe and was later immortalized by Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Alisya represents one of many alternative spellings that emerged in contemporary naming practice, sitting alongside variants such as Alicia, Alyssa, Alisa, and Alisha.
