Anouk

Anouk is a Dutch and French diminutive of Anna, which itself derives from the Hebrew name Channah, meaning grace or favour. The form developed through the medieval Latin and French tradition of creating pet forms of Anna, with Anouk gaining particular currency in French-speaking regions and the Netherlands. The name is widely recognized in popular culture partly through the 1993 French film Manon des Sources and the French singer Anouk Aimée, as well as the Dutch pop singer who performs simply as Anouk. Related forms include Anouschka, Annette, and Nanette, all ultimately sharing the same Hebrew root.
