Dylan

Dylan is a Welsh name derived from the elements dy, an intensifying prefix, and llanw, meaning tide or flow, giving the overall sense of great wave or sea. In Welsh mythology, Dylan eil Ton — Dylan, son of the Wave — was a legendary figure associated with the sea, born to Arianrhod and said to have taken immediately to the ocean. The name gained international popularity largely through the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, and was further spread by the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, who adopted it as a stage name in homage to the poet. Dillon is a common anglicized spelling variant.
