Edvard

Edvard is the Scandinavian, Finnish, Slovene, Czech, and Armenian form of Edward, derived from the Old English elements ead, meaning wealth or fortune, and weard, meaning guard. The name was carried into these languages largely through the influence of the medieval English royal tradition surrounding Saint Edward the Confessor and subsequent kings named Edward.
