Filippus

Filippus is a Latinized form of the ancient Greek name Philippos, composed of the elements philos, meaning "friend" or "lover," and hippos, meaning "horse," giving the overall sense of "lover of horses." It was borne most famously by Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great, and later spread widely through Europe due to the apostle Philip and several early Christian saints.
