Isabela

Isabela is a Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian form of Isabel, itself a medieval Iberian adaptation of Elisabeth, the Latin and Greek rendering of the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning my God is an oath or my God is abundance. The name spread widely through the Iberian Peninsula during the medieval period, carried in part by several queens of Spain and Portugal who bore the closely related form Isabel. Isabela remains common across Latin America and Romania today. Related forms include Isabella, Isabel, Isabelle, and Elisabeth.
