Isabela

Isabela is a Romance-language form of Isabel, itself a medieval Iberian adaptation of Elizabeth, which derives from the Hebrew name Elisheba, meaning something along the lines of "my God is an oath" or "my God is abundance." The name spread widely through Spanish and Portuguese-speaking cultures and became a favored royal name on the Iberian Peninsula, carried by queens of Castile and Portugal. Isabella, Isabel, and Bella are among the closely related variants found across European and Latin American naming traditions.
