Judocus is a Latinized form of the medieval Breton name Iodoc, itself derived from a Celtic root related to the Brythonic word for lord or chief. The name was borne by a 7th-century Breton saint, Josse of Ponthieu, whose cult spread through parts of France, the Low Countries, and England during the Middle Ages.
