Lovis

Lovis is a Swedish feminine form of the Germanic name Ludwig, composed of the elements hlud, meaning fame, and wig, meaning war or battle. It entered Scandinavian use as a variant of the French-influenced form Louise, which itself derives from the masculine Louis. The name is closely related to Lovisa, the more common Swedish and Finnish spelling, as well as to the wider family of cognates including Luise and Louisa.
