Louise

Louise is the French feminine form of Louis, which derives from the Old Frankish name Hludwig, composed of the elements hlud, meaning famous or renowned, and wig, meaning war or battle. The name was borne by several French queens and noblewomen, helping to spread it across Europe and into the English-speaking world. It has been consistently popular in many Western countries and remains in common use today.
