Marita

Marita is a pet form of Maria, itself the Latin and Greek rendering of the Hebrew name Miryam, whose root meaning is debated but often interpreted as "beloved," "bitter," or "drop of the sea." The name has been used across Germanic and Scandinavian countries, as well as in Spanish-speaking regions, reflecting the widespread veneration of the Virgin Mary throughout Christian Europe.
