Martijn

Martijn is the Dutch form of Martinus, a Latin name derived from Martinus, itself based on Martus or Mars, the Roman god of war, giving the underlying sense of "of Mars" or "warlike." The name spread widely across Europe through the influence of Saint Martin of Tours, the fourth-century soldier-turned-bishop who became one of the most venerated saints of the medieval West.
