Nastassia is a Slavic and particularly Belarusian and Eastern European form of Anastasia, from the Greek Anastasia, the feminine of Anastasios, derived from anastasis meaning resurrection. The name carries strong associations with early Christian martyrs, most notably Saint Anastasia of Sirmium, venerated across both Eastern and Western churches. Nastassia gained wider international recognition through the Belarusian-born actress Nastassja Kinski. Related forms include Nastasya, Nastasia, Anastazja, and Stasya.
