Anastasia

Anastasia is a feminine given name of Ancient Greek origin, derived from the word anastasis, meaning resurrection. It was widely adopted by early Christians due to its association with the resurrection of Christ, and was borne by several saints, including a fourth-century martyr venerated across both Eastern and Western Christianity. The name became particularly prominent in Russia and other Slavic cultures through the Russian imperial family, most famously the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. Related forms include the shortened Nastasia and Nastassja, as well as the masculine equivalent Anastasius.
