Owain

Owain is a Welsh name derived from the Latin Eugenius, itself from the Greek Eugenes, meaning well-born or of noble origin. It was borne by several figures in early Welsh legend and history, most notably Owain ap Urien, a celebrated warrior of Arthurian tradition, and Owain Glyndŵr, the fifteenth-century Welsh leader who became a national hero. The name is closely related to the Breton Ewein and the broader family of cognates that includes Owen, Ywain, and Evan.
