Yvain

Yvain is an Old French form of the name ultimately derived from the Celtic root that also underlies the Welsh Owain and the Latin Eugenius, broadly carrying the sense of well-born or of noble birth. The name is best known from Arthurian legend, where Yvain, son of King Urien, appears as one of the Knights of the Round Table and is the hero of the 12th-century verse romance Yvain, le Chevalier au Lion by Chrétien de Troyes. Closely related forms include Owain in Welsh tradition and Evan, which developed as an anglicized variant through a separate path.
