Roope

Roope is a Finnish form of Robert, ultimately derived from the Old High German name Hrodebert, composed of the elements hrod, meaning fame or glory, and beraht, meaning bright or shining. The name arrived in Finland through Swedish and ecclesiastical influence during the medieval period, gradually adapting to Finnish phonology. Roope is also widely recognized in Finnish culture as the name of the beloved comic character Roope Ankka, the Finnish rendering of Scrooge McDuck.
