Pertti is a Finnish masculine given name that developed as a vernacular adaptation of the Germanic name Bert, itself a short form of names containing the Old High German element beraht, meaning bright or famous. It became established in Finland as an independent given name and was especially popular through the twentieth century. Closely related forms include Perttu, another Finnish variant, as well as the broader family of Germanic names such as Albert, Herbert, and Robert from which the Bert element ultimately derives.
