Sofya

Sofya is the Russian and Armenian form of Sophia, derived from the ancient Greek word sophia, meaning wisdom. The name gained widespread use across the Christian world partly through Saint Sophia, a legendary martyr venerated in both Eastern and Western traditions, and it held strong aristocratic associations in imperial Russia.
