Adelia

Adelia is a Latinate elaboration of Adela, itself derived from the Germanic element adal, meaning noble. The name belongs to the same family as Adelaide, Adeline, and Adela, all of which share this root and were carried into wider use through medieval Germanic nobility. It has been used in both English- and Spanish-speaking traditions, particularly during the nineteenth century when Latinate feminine forms enjoyed considerable popularity.
