Adelia

Adelia is a Latinate elaboration of the Germanic element adal, meaning noble, and entered use as a feminine given name through the same root that produced Adela and Adelaide. The name gained currency in medieval Europe alongside the broader family of adal-derived names borne by Frankish and Norman aristocracy. Adelia enjoyed particular use in English-speaking countries during the nineteenth century as a refined variant alongside Adela, Adele, and Adelina.
