Fredo

Fredo is an Italian short form of names ending in -fredo, most commonly Alfredo or Wilfredo, which themselves derive from Germanic roots combining elements meaning elf and counsel or will and peace. The name has remained rare in Italy and is little used as a formal given name in its own right. It gained wider international recognition largely through the character Fredo Corleone in Mario Puzo's novel The Godfather and its celebrated film adaptations.
