Margaretha

Margaretha is the Dutch, Swedish, and German form of Margaret, derived from the Latin Margarita, itself borrowed from the Greek Margaritēs, meaning pearl. The name ultimately traces to an ancient Persian or Sanskrit root referring to the lustrous gem. It was borne by numerous medieval European saints and queens, most notably Saint Margaret of Antioch, whose widespread veneration helped make the name enormously popular throughout Christendom.
