Margarette

Margarette is a French and English variant of Margaret, which derives from the Latin Margarita and ultimately from the Greek margaritēs, meaning pearl. The name was widely spread throughout medieval Europe largely through the veneration of Saint Margaret of Antioch, a popular martyr of the early Christian tradition. Other closely related forms include Marguerite, Margareta, Margarethe, Margherita, and Gretchen.
