Margriet

Margriet is the Dutch form of Margaret, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek margaritēs, meaning pearl. The name spread widely across Europe through the veneration of Saint Margaret of Antioch and the influence of medieval queens bearing the Latin form Margarita. Margriet is closely associated with the Netherlands, where it is also the Dutch word for the daisy flower; Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, born in 1943 during World War II, is a prominent modern bearer.
