Vita

Vita derives from the Latin word vita, meaning life, and was used as a given name in the late Roman period. It has been adopted across numerous European traditions, including Italian, Slavic, and Baltic languages, retaining its transparent meaning in many of them. The name is sometimes used as a short form of Victoria or other names containing a similar root, and it appears in related forms such as Vito, Vita's masculine counterpart, and Vitalia. The English writer Vita Sackville-West brought the name wider recognition in the twentieth century.
