Britt

Britt is a Scandinavian short form of Birgitta, the Swedish and Norwegian form of Bridget, which ultimately derives from the Old Irish name Brigid, meaning exalted one or high goddess. The name was widely popularized in medieval Scandinavia through the veneration of Saint Birgitta of Sweden, the fourteenth-century mystic and founder of the Bridgettine order.
