Britta

Britta is a Scandinavian contracted form of Birgitta, itself the Old Norse adaptation of the Irish name Brighid, derived from the Old Irish element brígh meaning power or strength. The name spread widely across the Nordic countries, carried in part by the veneration of Saint Birgitta of Sweden, the fourteenth-century mystic and founder of the Bridgettine order.
