Corinna

Corinna is a Latinized form of the ancient Greek name Korinna, derived from kore, meaning girl or maiden. The name was borne by a celebrated Boeotian lyric poet of antiquity, said to have been a rival and teacher of Pindar, which gave the name lasting literary prestige. It was later revived in European cultures through Renaissance and Baroque poetry, most notably by the English poet Robert Herrick, who addressed verses to a figure by this name.
