Henrietta

Henrietta is the Latinate feminine form of Henry, which derives from the Old High German name Heimirich, composed of the elements heim, meaning home, and rīhhi, meaning power or ruler. The name came into English use largely through French influence, particularly following the marriage of the French princess Henriette Marie to King Charles I of England in 1625. It enjoyed widespread popularity among European royalty and nobility throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Related forms include Harriet, Henriette, and Henrika.
