Josefine

Josefine is the Scandinavian and German feminine form of Joseph, which derives from the Hebrew name Yosef, meaning he will add or God will increase. The name entered European use through the biblical patriarch Joseph, son of Jacob, and later through the New Testament figure Joseph of Nazareth. It gained particular prominence through Joséphine de Beauharnais, the Empress of France and wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, whose fame spread the name widely across Europe in the nineteenth century.
