Maisey

Maisey is an English pet form of Margaret, itself derived from the Greek Margaritēs, meaning pearl, which in turn came from an ancient Persian loanword. The form Maisey developed in Britain through the diminutive Maisie, a Scottish and Northern English familiar form that emerged in the nineteenth century. Maisie became widely known through J. M. Barrie's 1895 novel A Window in Thrums and Henry James's 1897 novel What Maisie Knew. Related forms include Maisie, Maisy, Maggie, and Peggy.
