Sef

Sef is a Dutch short form of Josef, which itself derives from the Hebrew name Yosef, meaning he will add or God will increase. The name ultimately traces back to the biblical patriarch Joseph, son of Jacob, whose story is recounted in the Book of Genesis. Sef is used informally in the Netherlands and Belgium as a familiar diminutive, with Josef and Jozef being the fuller standard forms.
