Zak

Zak is an English short form of Zachary, which derives from the Hebrew name Zekharyah, meaning God has remembered. The name was borne by several figures in the Hebrew Bible, most notably the prophet Zechariah. It functions as an independent given name as well as a nickname and is sometimes spelled Zack. The Slovene form Žak is borrowed from French Jacques, itself a cognate of James and John, all ultimately descending from Hebrew roots.
