Sindy

Sindy is an English variant of Cindy, itself a pet form of Cynthia or Cinda, ultimately derived from the Greek Kynthia, meaning "woman from Kynthos," referring to Mount Kynthos on the island of Delos, the mythological birthplace of the goddess Artemis. The spelling with S gained some independent recognition through the British Sindy fashion doll, introduced in 1963 as a rival to the American Barbie. Related forms include Cindy, Cynthia, and Cinda.
