Cindy

Cindy is an English pet form of Cynthia, which derives from the Greek Kynthia, meaning "woman from Kynthos," referring to Mount Kynthos on the island of Delos, the mythological birthplace of the goddess Artemis. The name came into widespread independent use in the mid-twentieth century, particularly in the United States, where it ranked among the most popular given names for girls during the 1950s and 1960s. It is also used as a short form of Lucinda or Cinderella in some traditions. Related forms include Sindy, Cyndi, and the full name Cynthia.
