Dorinda

Dorinda is an elaborated form of Dora, itself a short form of names such as Dorothy or Theodora, both ultimately rooted in the Greek elements doron (gift) and theos (god). The -inda suffix was a literary embellishment common in 18th-century English poetry and drama, and the name was notably introduced to wider audiences through the character Dorinda in George Farquhar's 1707 comedy The Beaux' Stratagem.
