Doretta

Doretta is an English and Italian diminutive form of Dora, itself a short form of names beginning with the Greek element doron, meaning gift. The name gained some currency in the English-speaking world during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, partly through its use in literature and light opera. Doreta and Dorette are closely related variant forms, while the fuller names Dorothy and Theodora share the same Greek root.
